The Bernburg-based Department of Agriculture, Ecotrophology and Landscape Development invites applications for the position of
Professor in Faunistics and Species Protection (Bes. Gruppe W2)
which is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The requirements for employment include a relevant university degree, outstanding academic qualifications, in particular, research documented in peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, scientific experience researching vertebrate groups and experience by integrating the research results in specialist planning and projects for nature conservation in frames of species protection.
The successful candidate will be expected to independently represent the field of Faunistics with a focus on vertebrate animals and species protection in his/her application and implementation oriented teaching and research. A high level of commitment is expected in the supervision of practice-oriented bachelor and master theses, student projects and excursions as well as actively participating in the strategic further development of degree programs, especially in the development of an international English-speaking master’s degree program in Nature Conservation. This also requires close cooperation with colleagues who represent other specialist areas, such as, Nature Conservation, Landscape Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning and Agriculture.
In addition, Anhalt University expects applicants to have extensive experience in application oriented research and development and to be wholly committed to participating in collaborative academic management processes (Hochschulselbstverwaltung).
It is also expected that the successful candidate works closely and cooperates with the federal and state government nature conservation authorities, nature conservation associations, land users and other responsible parties involved in nature conservation, and with the State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (LLG) located in Bernburg-Strenzfeld and the International DLG Crop Production Center.
The requirements for employment are governed by Article 35 Hochschulgesetz Land Sachsen-Anhalt (HSG LSA). According to Article 17 of the Constitution of Anhalt University (Grundordnung der Hochschule Anhalt), in conjunction with Article 38 HSG LSA, which states that any first appointment as a professor is generally probationary. The salary is paid in line with the legal and budgetary conditions.
