The Department of Civil Engineering and Energy Technology is growing and has a vacancy for a permanent position as Associate Professor in Engineering. This position will be focusing on building services engineering, including thermodynamics, heat and mass transport. We are looking for an innovative, productive and creative candidate whose research and teaching apply key concepts and methods from the field of energy and indoor environment in buildings at various scales, both in research and teaching.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Teaching and supervision of students at bachelor- and master levels within building services engineering (HVAC, energy & indoor climate), including thermodynamics, heat and mass transport.
- Development of courses within the professional field.
- Participating in R&D activities, including application for funding, research, publishing and dissemination of results
- Strengthening the academic and research work in the field of energy and indoor environment in buildings and closely related fields
- Active contribution to the development of high-quality education
- Active contribution to the general development of the department
- The candidate is also expected to be involved in the university’s research community
- Initiate and develop collaboration with national and international partners
- Performing administrative tasks related to educational, research, and innovation activities.
- PhD in engineering, preferably with experience in one or more of the following:
- indoor climate and/or sanitation,
- energy simulation of buildings,
- thermodynamics, heat and mass transport.
- Documented research work and publications within the field of energy and indoor environment in buildings or closely related fields
- Experience in teaching and supervision in higher education
- The applicant must document relevant educational theory and practice for higher education. Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications on appointment, must acquire these qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a course on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (UHPED), in English thatmeets this requirement.
- Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language, must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of commencement. Proficiency in oral and written English is also required.

- Pedagogical skills and teaching experience, and ability to motivate and inspire students and colleagues
- Ability to apply knowledge from various disciplines such as building services engineering, energy issues (especially thermodynamics, heat and mass transport), civil engineering and eventually combine them into new disciplines.
- Ability to combine theoretical and practical issues and demonstrate fresh thinking and innovation

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Norwegian State salary scale 60-74, job code 1011 Associate Professor. The salary is NOK 535 200 – 694 400 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
