Postdoc in health economics

The Unit of Health Economics Research, Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, Campus Odense, invites applications for a position as postdoc within the area of health economics. The position is vacant from April 1, 2018. The period of employment as postdoc will be limited to 3 years.

The successful applicant will be expected to conduct and publish internationally competitive research in the fields of health economics, and must have good quantitative skills, a highly developed knowledge of micro-economic theory as well as an interest in the organization of the health care sector. The research will be conducted in an open and inspiring work environment, and in collaboration with junior and senior colleagues. The successful applicant will be expected to partake in establishing a research environment, which conducts high quality and innovative health economic research publishable in highly ranked international journals.

Current research lines of the Unit of Health Economic Research are behavioral health economics; preference elicitation; equity in heath and health care delivery; performance, incentives and competition in health care; health outcomes measurement; economic evaluation.

The position involves teaching at bachelor and master level in a broad spectrum of topics within the area of health economics and economics.

Required qualifications:

The successful candidate for the position has:

  • a PhD degree in economics
  • research experience documented by internationally peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of economics/health economics
  • teaching experience
  • fluent English language

Further assets are experience with funding applications, project coordination and international research collaboration.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
